I think I've done pretty well with the pregnancy cravings so far, but there have been two distinct instances that required special attention. G got off pretty easy on the first one, thanks to Dave being in town and staying with us. I was reading a novel around 10:30 p.m. on a Saturday night, and it mentioned Fruit Loops. All of the sudden I HAD to have Fruit Loops. But I was too embarrassed to make G quit his XBox game with Dave and go get them, so I just toughed it out. A couple of days later the craving was still there, though, so he ran to the grocery store for me.
The next was night before last. We were watching Weeds and they mentioned mini donuts. I am apparently very susceptible to the mere mention of sugary snacks. Garett says we can't watch Weeds any more, because all they do is mention munchies. Despite that, he ran to the corner store and got me powdered sugar donuts. Nom nom nom. If the old wives' tale is true, Baby T is a girl... :)

Hot Flashes
So, my new fun thing is crazy hot flashes. I get them pretty much every morning around 9:30. Seriously feel like I am sweltering at my desk. I dug out a little hand held fan this morning, but that makes it hard to type... G's bringing me a desk top fan tonight. Hooray!
Tummy's certainly growing, but at least I haven't reached this state just yet (for clarification, nor do I have plans to). Scary.

3 lbs.
28 week visit was easiest yet - they didn't even draw blood! Blood pressure is good, weight is good. Baby T's heartbeat is strong and about 145 BPM. Doc estimated baby is about 3 lbs. Go back in four weeks for the next visit and to get another sono just to make sure everything is on track. After that, increases to visits every two weeks. Glad I get a bundle deal and don't have to pay a co-pay on every visit!

Woot!
When G and I went to register at Babies 'R Us, it was quite the ordeal. We were both very much out of our element, and spent an inordinate amount of time in the stroller/car seat section. We knew we wanted to be able to have bases in both vehicles, with the ability to move the car seat from one to the other. I'd heard 'don't waste your money on an infant car seat', but all the convertible seats didn't have the option to transfer between bases. And we wanted a stroller we could just drop the base in to, but didn't want a huge travel system.
Eventually, we threw up our hands in despair, picked an infant seat/stroller combo that was on clearance, and went ahead and registered for a convertible seat for the next stage. Of course, G picked the RECARO model, one of the most expensive offered. But - they make race car seats!! So they must be good!! I was totally out on it, didn't really care as long as Baby T was strapped in safely. But. Geeze. Nearly $300 for a car seat. Man.
Then, at midnight last night, the most awesomest thing happened. Woot.com had our car seat - at 1/3 the price!! G was prescient enough to wake me for the OK, and got us a super bargain. Woo hoo!

Ain't it fancy? (Ours will have cobalt accents rather than blush...)
92 days to go. Depending on which site you read, I'm either officially third tri or will be next week. And today, for the first time, I'm actually really uncomfortable. :(

New Duds
Since my parents aren't close enough to take me shopping for maternity clothes, they sent a little fundage my way to help me pick up a few things. Very nice, and much appreciated, since I've still been making my career slacks work, and they're starting to turn into some serious high waters... There's a place not far from my office called Destination Maternity that carriers a wide variety of brands - they bill it as 'three shops in one', with one area being kind of like a Neiman Marcus, one more like a Dillards, and one like an Old Navy.
Even with donated dollars, there was no way I could convince myself to even try on the Seven jeans or a $100 top (marked down from $200), but I was able to pick up a couple pair of slacks, a pair of jeans and a number of tops that were all $20 or less each. So, yay! I couldn't find everything I picked online, but here's a sampling.
I'm happy to say that I think these tops actually look better on me than they do in these pics (or maybe I've just convinced myself I'm not hideously huge).

I got this one in black.

I got a Large in this one, so it's a little more fitted than the example, but I think it looks better.

I picked up this one in a springy green color.

This one is actually cuter than the pic looks.

It was also super exciting to me that I actually had to send the sales lady back for some smaller sizes, a rare occurence for any shopping trip, but especially for one when I look down and have a bowling ball in the tummy area...
Kudos and thanks, too, to my friend Vicki for lending me her and her sister Barbara's maternity wardrobes. Between mixing those items in and what I've purchased, I'm hoping I'm set for the next 3 months!

Infant Car Seat = PITA
So, just over a year ago, G and I decided to do the responsible thing and purchase a four-door sedan. Here, we thought, was a car we could hold on to for a few years. Something that would work well when the baby came. Oops. Little did we know an infant car seat requires approximately four feet of room. I guess I'd never really thought about it, or perhaps even really seen an infant car seat in place - my mind just defaulted to the regular ol' forward-facing, upright baby seat, and I thought we'd have plenty of room.

**Visual approximation - not actually Baby T, or our car seat, or our car**
So, in our Lexus IS300, we can make the car seat fit, as long as no one (or at least no one with legs) wants to sit in the front passenger seat. And, the stroller does fit in the trunk - as long as I don't also want to place one other single thing back there. Sigh. We did some shopping yesterday to see about going ahead and biting the bullet and finding something that will work better, but the problem is since we've only had the Lexus a year, and since it's a 2002 with over 75,000 miles, its trade-in value is less than half of what we owe on it. And, with the debt snowball, if we can wait just one year, it will be completely paid off. So, the plan now is to go ahead and make due, and if it is just impossible after Baby T comes, see what happens then.
Sigh. 107 days to go.

I passed!
Monday was my Gestational Diabetes test and they called today to let me know I passed. Hooray! I believe I will celebrate with chocolate... We also think we've settled on a day care - The Peanut Gallery in Richardson. One of my co-workers has her daughter there and had good things to say about the infant care. Also, it's practically walking distance from our new office (opening early 2010), so it just doesn't get much more geographically desirable. I'm not sure if Baby T looks more like Garett or me, but I'm smitten...
