New Duds

Since my parents aren't close enough to take me shopping for maternity clothes, they sent a little fundage my way to help me pick up a few things. Very nice, and much appreciated, since I've still been making my career slacks work, and they're starting to turn into some serious high waters... There's a place not far from my office called Destination Maternity that carriers a wide variety of brands - they bill it as 'three shops in one', with one area being kind of like a Neiman Marcus, one more like a Dillards, and one like an Old Navy.

Even with donated dollars, there was no way I could convince myself to even try on the Seven jeans or a $100 top (marked down from $200), but I was able to pick up a couple pair of slacks, a pair of jeans and a number of tops that were all $20 or less each. So, yay! I couldn't find everything I picked online, but here's a sampling.

I'm happy to say that I think these tops actually look better on me than they do in these pics (or maybe I've just convinced myself I'm not hideously huge).

I got this one in black.

I got a Large in this one, so it's a little more fitted than the example, but I think it looks better.

I picked up this one in a springy green color.

This one is actually cuter than the pic looks.

I don't think this is the cutest, but it's soooo comfortable and will be good for work.
It was also super exciting to me that I actually had to send the sales lady back for some smaller sizes, a rare occurence for any shopping trip, but especially for one when I look down and have a bowling ball in the tummy area...
Kudos and thanks, too, to my friend Vicki for lending me her and her sister Barbara's maternity wardrobes. Between mixing those items in and what I've purchased, I'm hoping I'm set for the next 3 months!

Infant Car Seat = PITA

So, just over a year ago, G and I decided to do the responsible thing and purchase a four-door sedan. Here, we thought, was a car we could hold on to for a few years. Something that would work well when the baby came. Oops. Little did we know an infant car seat requires approximately four feet of room. I guess I'd never really thought about it, or perhaps even really seen an infant car seat in place - my mind just defaulted to the regular ol' forward-facing, upright baby seat, and I thought we'd have plenty of room.

**Visual approximation - not actually Baby T, or our car seat, or our car**

So, in our Lexus IS300, we can make the car seat fit, as long as no one (or at least no one with legs) wants to sit in the front passenger seat. And, the stroller does fit in the trunk - as long as I don't also want to place one other single thing back there. Sigh. We did some shopping yesterday to see about going ahead and biting the bullet and finding something that will work better, but the problem is since we've only had the Lexus a year, and since it's a 2002 with over 75,000 miles, its trade-in value is less than half of what we owe on it. And, with the debt snowball, if we can wait just one year, it will be completely paid off. So, the plan now is to go ahead and make due, and if it is just impossible after Baby T comes, see what happens then.

Sigh. 107 days to go.

I passed!

Monday was my Gestational Diabetes test and they called today to let me know I passed. Hooray! I believe I will celebrate with chocolate... We also think we've settled on a day care - The Peanut Gallery in Richardson. One of my co-workers has her daughter there and had good things to say about the infant care. Also, it's practically walking distance from our new office (opening early 2010), so it just doesn't get much more geographically desirable. I'm not sure if Baby T looks more like Garett or me, but I'm smitten...

Baby Bedding

After an unnecessary amount of waffling back and forth between "baby! cute!" bedding and "ooh! fancy!" bedding, I finally settled on this:

I think it can go either gender. Also planning on hanging Baby T's name (TBA) like this (probably brown letters with turquoise ribbon...):

And putting together some frames like this (with turquoise accent rather than green):

We've got Christmas down now, so we should start moving furniture and painting in the next couple of weeks. Hooray!
